Academic Qualification:
Passed his Secondary School examination from Little Folk's Secondary School, Karachi, in the year 1979 and Higher School (HSC) in Pre-Engineering from Government National College Karachi in 1982. Thereafter joined NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi in the Electrical Engineering Program,but after spending a year in the University, left due to lack of interest in the subject of Electrical Engineering. Passed the Bachelor of Commerce exam from Government Premier College (evening program) in the year 1986. After doing B.Com, joined S. M. Law Government College and passed his LL.B exam with 1st Class Second position in the year 1990. Initially started legal practice on his own and thereafter joined Navin Merchant & Associates and remained associated as Partner from the year 2003 till March 2013. Started his own office in March 2013 and was elevated to the Sindh High Court as an Additional Judge on 31.08.2013. His lordship subsequently took oath as a Judge of this Court on August 27,2015 and took the oath as Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Sindh on February 14, 2025, and thereafter took oath as the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court on 8th July, 2025.

Advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan since 2012. Advocate of High Courts in Pakistan since 2000. Advocate of Subordinate Courts in Pakistan since 1993.

Professional Experience:
Has advised on a large variety of taxation issues mainly relating to Customs, Federal Excise, Sales Tax and Income Tax to Clients which include local and multinational companies in Pakistan and abroad. Has appeared in various courts within the country including, the Supreme Court of Pakistan, High Court of Sindh, Lahore High Court, District Courts, Customs Tribunal, Income Tax Tribunal, Special Judge Customs & Taxation in tax related matters both Civil and Criminal. Numerous judgements at the Tribunal and High Court level have been reported in Law Journals on major issues of Customs, Federal Excise, Sales Tax, Income Tax, Constitution, Interpretation etc; Advised and represented clients in various law fields including but not limited to commercial contracts and agreements, Rent disputes, issues related to power and energy sector, Building Control/CDGK/Cantonment matters; Advised and represented Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers Association on issues relating to Bills of Ladings, Carriage of Goods by Air & Sea including Bill on Logistics and shipping; Advised on alternative dispute resolution in tax matters; Has been the Member of the Advisory Committee of the Collectorate of Customs Appraisement; Attended the Pakistan World Custom Organisation Valuation Workshop conducted by WCO; Has remained Vice Chairman of the Taxation Committee of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry for the year 2004 to 2006; Has been the Senior Vice Chairman of the Taxation Committee of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry for the years 2008 to 2010.
